Bleach · Character
Ichigo Kurosaki
黒崎一護
A Karakura high-schooler who has always been able to see ghosts. When the Soul Reaper Rukia hands him her powers to save his family, he becomes a Substitute Soul Reaper — and discovers, one war after another, that he is far more than that.
The son of a former Soul Reaper captain, Isshin Shiba, and of a pure-blooded Quincy, Masaki, Ichigo also carries inside him the Hollow White that had wounded his mother: he is the only being in whom all four of the series' powers coexist. He fights to protect, not to win, and that leads him to defy the Soul Society to save Rukia, to enter Hueco Mundo to take Orihime back, to sacrifice his own powers to stop Aizen with the Final Getsuga Tenshō, and to regain them thanks to his friends. In the war against the Wandenreich he learns the truth about his own sword: 'old Zangetsu' was his Quincy power, the real Zangetsu was the Hollow. Ten years later he lives in Karakura with Orihime and their son Kazui.
