Renji Abarai
阿散井恋次
The tattooed lieutenant of the Sixth Division, raised with Rukia in Inuzuri. He comes to Karakura to arrest her, and spends the rest of the series trying to protect her.
When Rukia was adopted by the Kuchiki, Renji stepped aside, convinced he could never reach her; since then every step he takes is an attempt to surpass Byakuya. Beaten by Ichigo, he entrusts Rukia to him and then faces his captain with his newly acquired Bankai. In the war against the Wandenreich Ichibē reveals that his Bankai was incomplete: with Sōō Zabimaru he defeats Mask De Masculine. He marries Rukia and they have a daughter, Ichika.
