The corridor between the Soul Society and the World of the Living: walls of Kōryū that trap anyone who stops, and the Kōtotsu that sweeps it every seven days. Inside it, time runs far more slowly.

The ryoka cross it chased by the Kōtotsu at the start of the invasion of the Soul Society; Ulquiorra intercepts Orihime in it to take her to Hueco Mundo; and Isshin takes Ichigo there for his final training: three months in the Dangai, one hour outside, facing Tensa Zangetsu to learn the Final Getsuga Tenshō.

  1. Across the DangaiSoul SocietyThe ryoka go through Urahara's Senkaimon and run through the Dangai chased by the Kōtotsu, the 'cleaner' that sweeps the corridor. Orihime saves them with Santen Kesshun.
  2. Orihime abducted in the DangaiArrancarWhile crossing the Dangai towards the Soul Society, Orihime is intercepted by Ulquiorra: either she follows him to Hueco Mundo, or her friends will die. She has twelve hours to say goodbye to one person; she chooses Ichigo, asleep.
