Ikkaku Madarame
斑目一角
The bald, cocky third seat of the Eleventh Division, Ichigo's first serious opponent in the Seireitei. He hides having a Bankai: becoming a captain would force him to leave Kenpachi.
He wants to die fighting under Kenpachi, and nothing else. Defeated by Ichigo, he tells him where Rukia is; in Karakura he uses his Bankai only in secret against Edrad, and at the replica Karakura he is beaten by Poww in a duel during which the pillar collapses.
