Arrancar: The Arrival

Aizen's Arrancar arrive in Karakura: Ulquiorra and Yammy scouting ahead, then Grimmjow and his Fracción. Ichigo trains with the Visored to tame his own Hollow, while Orihime is abducted in the Dangai.

Hitsugaya's advance team settles in Karakura and fights under a power limit imposed by the Soul Society. Ichigo masters his Hollow mask, but Orihime agrees to follow Ulquiorra to protect her friends: the Soul Society declares her a traitor, and Ichigo, Uryū and Chad leave for Hueco Mundo through Urahara's Garganta.

  1. Ulquiorra and Yammy arrive in KarakuraArrancarThe first Arrancar land in Karakura: Yammy sucks out the souls of passers-by, breaks Chad's arm and injures Orihime. Ichigo cannot make use of his Bankai; Urahara and Yoruichi drive Yammy off.
  2. Shinji Hirako, the new classmateArrancarA blond boy with an enormous grin enrols in Ichigo's class and invites him to join the Visored: he too has a Hollow inside, and can teach him to master it.
  3. Grimmjow's first raidArrancarGrimmjow attacks Karakura with his Fracción without Aizen's permission. The Gotei's advance team takes them on: Rukia beats Di Roy, Ikkaku secretly uses his Bankai against Edrad, Renji defeats Yylfordt, Hitsugaya and Rangiku bring down Shawlong and Nakeem. Ichigo faces Grimmjow; Tōsen comes to fetch him.
  4. Ichigo tames his HollowArrancarIn the Visored's warehouse Ichigo enters his own inner world and defeats his Hollow, while the Visored take turns holding his body back. He gains the mask, which at first lasts only a few seconds.
  5. The second Arrancar raidArrancarAs Ulquiorra moves for Orihime, Aizen sends a diversion: Grimmjow, Yammy, Wonderweiss and other Arrancar attack Karakura. Ichigo fights Grimmjow with his mask.
  6. Orihime abducted in the DangaiArrancarWhile crossing the Dangai towards the Soul Society, Orihime is intercepted by Ulquiorra: either she follows him to Hueco Mundo, or her friends will die. She has twelve hours to say goodbye to one person; she chooses Ichigo, asleep.
  7. Departure for Hueco MundoArrancarThe Soul Society declares Orihime a traitor and recalls its Soul Reapers. Ichigo, Uryū and Chad leave anyway through the Garganta opened by Urahara; Rukia and Renji soon follow them.
  8. Isshin cuts down Grand FisherArrancarWhile Ichigo is in Hueco Mundo, Grand Fisher, now an Arrancar, returns to Karakura to take revenge on Karin. Isshin appears for the first time in a captain's attire and cuts him in two with a single strike.
