Rukia Kuchiki

A Soul Reaper of the Thirteenth Division and Byakuya Kuchiki's adoptive sister. Wounded on a mission in Karakura, she gives her powers to Ichigo: for that crime she is sentenced to death, and the series truly begins.

Raised in the Rukongai with Renji, adopted into the noblest house because of a promise made to her sister Hisana, Rukia has always felt she belonged to neither world. Kaien's death, by her own hands, is the wound she carries; Ichigo is the first to free her from that weight. Without knowing it, she hides in her soul the Hōgyoku that Urahara had sealed there. In the Quincy war she reveals her Bankai, Hakka no Togame, and after the war she becomes captain of the Thirteenth Division; she marries Renji and they have a daughter, Ichika.
