Byakuya Kuchiki
朽木白哉
The twenty-eighth head of the Kuchiki house and captain of the Sixth Division: impassive, supremely elegant, bound to the law more than to anyone. He comes to Karakura to arrest his own sister.
As a young man he was hot-headed and Yoruichi teased him constantly; his marriage to Hisana, a commoner, was the only time he defied the rules. When she died she asked him to find and protect Rukia, without telling her of their bond. Defeated by Ichigo on the Sōkyoku, he admits he was wrong and shields Rukia from Gin's blade. From then on he becomes one of Ichigo's most reliable allies.
