Thousand-Year Blood War: The Calamity

Yhwach absorbs the Soul King and founds Wahrwelt. Ukitake sacrifices himself to keep the Soul Society standing; Ichigo, Uryū, Aizen and their allies climb all the way to Yhwach's throne for the final battle.

Urahara, Yoruichi and Grimmjow bring down Askin; Haschwalth kills Bazz-B and faces Ichigo and Uryū; Yhwach's Auswählen strikes his own Sternritter too. With Uryū's silver arrow and one of Aizen's illusions, Ichigo deals the blow that stops Yhwach. Ten years later, in Karakura, Kazui dispels the last fragment of his power with a touch. In 2026 the anime adapted this part as the fourth season of 'Thousand-Year Blood War'.

The Soul King becomes the linchpin of the worldsA million years earlierA million years ago the founders of the Soul Society, among them the ancestors of the great houses and Ichibē Hyōsube, strip the Soul King of arms, legs and heart and seal him in a crystal: from then on he keeps life and death apart.
  2. Yhwach absorbs the Soul KingThousand-Year Blood WarBefore the King's crystal, Yhwach manipulates Ichigo's body so that his sword runs the Soul King through. He absorbs him and takes his place: the Reiōkyū becomes Wahrwelt, and the worlds begin to collapse.
  3. Ukitake's sacrificeThousand-Year Blood WarWith the King dead, Ukitake performs the Kamikake rite: he releases Mimihagi, the King's right hand living in his lungs, and for a moment becomes the pillar of the worlds. The price is his life.
  4. Urahara, Yoruichi and Grimmjow vs AskinThousand-Year Blood WarAt Wahrwelt Askin traps the group with his Vollständig. Urahara finally reveals his Bankai, Kannonbiraki Benihime Aratame, Yoruichi her Shunkō Raijin Senki form, and with Grimmjow they bring the Sternritter down.
  5. Bazz-B vs HaschwalthThousand-Year Blood WarYhwach's Auswählen strikes his own Sternritter. Bazz-B rebels and challenges his childhood friend Haschwalth, who kills him.
  6. Ichigo vs HaschwalthThousand-Year Blood WarOn the way to Yhwach's tower, Ichigo faces the Grand Master of the Sternritter, whose Schrift The Balance diverts the wounds he receives onto his opponents.
  7. Uryū vs HaschwalthThousand-Year Blood WarUryū, his double game revealed, faces the Grand Master with his Schrift, The Antithesis, which reverses wounds. Haschwalth dies when Yhwach takes back his share of power.
  8. Yhwach's defeatThousand-Year Blood WarYhwach breaks Ichigo's sword once more. Uryū looses the silver arrow that freezes The Almighty for an instant; an illusion of Kyōka Suigetsu shields Ichigo, who cuts Yhwach down with one last slash.
  9. Ten years laterTen years laterIchigo and Orihime live in Karakura with their son Kazui; Rukia, captain of the Thirteenth, and Renji arrive with their daughter Ichika. Kazui dispels the last fragment of Yhwach's power with a touch.
