See all →- Replica Karakura (Tenteikūra)BattlefieldThe copy of Karakura the Kidō Corps puts in place of the real town thanks to the four Tenteikūra pillars: above its rooftops the battle between the Gotei 13 and Aizen's Espada is fought.
- WahrweltCityThe 'City of the True World': the Reiōkyū refounded by Yhwach after absorbing the Soul King, with a castle-tower at its centre. The series' final battle is fought here.
- Sōkyoku HillBattlefieldThe hill of capital executions, with the Sōkyoku halberd that turns into a phoenix of fire. Here Rukia is about to be executed, here Ichigo saves her and here Aizen drops his mask.
- SilbernCityThe Wandenreich's capital, hidden for a thousand years in the shadows of the Seireitei. In the second invasion the Quincy make it rise in place of the Soul Reapers' city, turning the Seireitei into their battlefield.
- Real Karakura (moved to the Rukongai)BattlefieldDuring the battle against Aizen the real Karakura, put to sleep, is moved to the edge of the Rukongai and replaced by a replica. This is where Aizen comes to forge the Ōken, and where his fight with Ichigo ends.
- SeireiteiCityThe Soul Reapers' city at the heart of the Soul Society, enclosed by sekkiseki walls that repel spiritual energy: home of the Gotei 13, Central 46 and the great noble houses. Double-click to enter.
- Karakura High SchoolLandmarkThe high school of Ichigo, Orihime, Uryū, Chad, Tatsuki, Keigo and Mizuiro. Rukia enrols here too, and later Shinji Hirako and the members of Hitsugaya's advance team.
- Karakura TownCityIchigo Kurosaki's town, where it all begins: an ordinary place in Japan with an abnormal density of spiritual energy that draws Hollows, Soul Reapers, Arrancar and Quincy. Double-click to enter.
- Kurosaki ClinicLandmarkIsshin Kurosaki's small clinic, which is also home to Ichigo, Karin and Yuzu. One night a Soul Reaper walks through the wall of Ichigo's room, and his life changes forever.
- Senzaikyū (Shrine of Penitence)LandmarkThe white tower where those sentenced to death await execution, connected to Sōkyoku Hill by a long suspended bridge. Rukia is locked there in a cell that drains her spiritual energy.
- Las Noches throne roomLandmarkThe hall where Aizen sits on the throne that once belonged to Barragan and gathers the ten Espada around a long table for tea. It is also where the trap that strands the captains in Hueco Mundo is sprung.
- Las NochesCityThe immense white fortress at the centre of Hueco Mundo's desert: once King Barragan's palace, then the headquarters of Aizen and his Espada. Double-click to enter.
Main characters(147)
See all →- Byakuya KuchikiThe twenty-eighth head of the Kuchiki house and captain of the Sixth Division: impassive, supremely elegant, bound to the law more than to anyone. He comes to Karakura to arrest his own sister.
- Ichigo KurosakiA Karakura high-schooler who has always been able to see ghosts. When the Soul Reaper Rukia hands him her powers to save his family, he becomes a Substitute Soul Reaper — and discovers, one war after another, that he is far more than that.
- Kisuke UraharaThe scatterbrained shopkeeper in a hat and clogs who sells sweets in Karakura. In truth he is the former captain of the Twelfth Division, founder of the Research Institute and inventor of the Hōgyoku.
- Orihime InoueIchigo's classmate, cheerful and dreamy. Her powers, the six spirits of the Shun Shun Rikka hairpins, don't heal wounds: they 'reject' them, returning things to how they were before.
- Renji AbaraiThe tattooed lieutenant of the Sixth Division, raised with Rukia in Inuzuri. He comes to Karakura to arrest her, and spends the rest of the series trying to protect her.
- Rukia KuchikiA Soul Reaper of the Thirteenth Division and Byakuya Kuchiki's adoptive sister. Wounded on a mission in Karakura, she gives her powers to Ichigo: for that crime she is sentenced to death, and the series truly begins.
- Sōsuke AizenThe captain of the Fifth Division, kind, cultured, loved by all. He is the greatest manipulator in the series: for over a century he has moved every piece in the Soul Society to reach the King's throne.
- Ulquiorra CiferThe Fourth Espada, death's aspect of Nihilism: pale, impassive, with green tear-marks on his face. He believes only in what he can see, and he sees no heart.
- Uryū IshidaThe last of Karakura's Quincy, Ichigo's classmate, who hates Soul Reapers for failing to save his grandfather. He fights with a bow of spiritual energy and an even sharper pride.
- Yasutora "Chad" SadoThe gentle giant of half-Mexican descent, Ichigo's friend since middle school. He never raises his fists for himself, only for others — and his fists become armour made of spiritual energy.
- YhwachThe forefather of the Quincy and emperor of the Wandenreich, son of the Soul King. After a thousand years of seal he returns to destroy the Soul Society and merge life and death into a single world.
- Barragan LouisenbairnThe Second Espada, death's aspect of Old Age: the 'King of Hueco Mundo' who ruled from Las Noches before Aizen overthrew him. His Respira ages and decays everything it touches.

Zanpakutō & Spiritual powers(102)
See all →- ZangetsuIchigo's sword, always released: a black guardless cleaver (Shikai). Bankai: Tensa Zangetsu, a black katana that compresses all its power into speed. After the war it is reborn as two blades, one Shinigami-Hollow and one Quincy.
- Senbonzakura"Chire, Senbonzakura" — "Scatter": the blade dissolves into a thousand cherry-blossom fragments. Bankai: Senbonzakura Kageyoshi, a hundred million blades; the Senkei and Shūkei: Hakuteiken forms. Äs Nödt steals it in the Quincy war.
- Ryūjin Jakka"Banshō issai kaijin to nase, Ryūjin Jakka" — "Reduce all creation to ash": the oldest and most powerful fire Zanpakutō. Bankai: Zanka no Tachi, which condenses the heat of the sun into the blade. Yhwach steals it when Yamamoto dies.
- Kyōka Suigetsu"Kudakero, Kyōka Suigetsu" — "Shatter": complete hypnosis of every sense for anyone who has seen the release. Aizen passes it off as a water sword; in truth it is the tool with which he deceives the entire Soul Society.
- Hyōrinmaru"Sōten ni zase, Hyōrinmaru" — "Sit upon the frozen heavens": the most powerful ice Zanpakutō, which also controls the weather. Bankai: Daiguren Hyōrinmaru, ice wings and thirteen flowers; in its complete form Hitsugaya appears adult.
- Sode no Shirayuki"Mae, Sode no Shirayuki" — "Dance". Considered the most beautiful Zanpakutō in the Soul Society, pure white, with its ice dances Tsukishiro, Hakuren and Shirafune. Bankai: Hakka no Togame, which takes Rukia to absolute zero.
- CeroThe 'zero blast': a beam of concentrated spiritual energy fired from the mouth, hands or horns. Every advanced Hollow has it; the Espada's Cero Oscuras and Hollow Ichigo's Cero are among the most devastating.
- Hollowfication (Hollow mask)The Visored's power: donning the mask of one's inner Hollow to go beyond a Soul Reaper's limits. Born from Aizen's experiments, Ichigo masters it in the Visored's warehouse; Tōsen uses it to unleash a Resurrección.
- Shunpo (Flash Step)The 'flash step': the Soul Reapers' movement technique to cover great distances in an instant. Yoruichi, the 'Flash Goddess', is its greatest master; its equivalents are the Arrancar's Sonído and the Quincy's Hirenkyaku.
- Bakudō (Way of Binding)Kidō of binding and defence: chains of light like Rikujōkōrō (#61), barriers like Danku (#81) and seals. Essential for Tessai, Hachigen and Urahara, and it is with a planted Kidō that Aizen is sealed.
- Hadō (Way of Destruction)Offensive Kidō, numbered from 1 to 99: from Byakurai (#4) and Shakkahō (#31) to Raikōhō (#63) and Kurohitsugi (#90). The higher the number, the stronger the spell; masters cast it without reciting the incantation.
- Heilig PfeilThe 'holy arrow': the Quincy's basic attack, an arrow of reishi absorbed from the surroundings and loosed from a spirit bow. Uryū comes to fire thousands in an instant.
