Turn Back the Pendulum
A flashback a hundred and ten years back: Urahara becomes captain of the Twelfth Division, the captains and lieutenants sent to investigate in the Rukongai are Hollowfied by Aizen, and Urahara and Tessai are condemned in his place.
The arc explains the origin of the Visored, the bond between Urahara, Yoruichi and the Soul Society, and the first, silent act of Aizen's plan. It is inserted in the manga as a run of backwards-numbered chapters.
