Quincy

Humans who absorb the surrounding reishi to make weapons, Yhwach's spiritual descendants. Unlike Soul Reapers they destroy Hollows instead of purifying them.

Two hundred years ago the Soul Reapers wiped them out to protect the balance of souls; the survivors in the World of the Living, like the Ishida, live in hiding. 'Pure' (Echt) Quincy like Masaki and 'mixed' (Gemischt) ones like Uryū are distinguished by blood: Yhwach's Auswählen kills the latter and spares the former only to steal their power.
