Dr Grisha Yeager's house, where Eren and Mikasa grow up: in 845 a boulder from the wall crushes it and Carla, trapped, is devoured by the Smiling Titan before the children's eyes.
Hannes carries Eren and Mikasa to safety instead of fighting: he lacks the courage to face the Titan. Five years later, when Eren sees that same Titan again, Hannes dies trying to stop it — and the Smiling Titan, it will turn out, was Dina Fritz, Grisha's first wife.
