Over a thousand years ago, in the golden age of jujutsu, a human sorcerer with four arms and two faces becomes the King of Curses: the sorcerers of his time join forces to bring him down and fail.

Tengen and Japan's barriers
Tengen, an immortal sorcerer, has upheld for over a thousand years the barriers protecting Japan and the schools. Every five hundred years it must merge with a Star Plasma Vessel to avoid evolving beyond humanity.

The birth of the Death Paintings
In the Meiji era Kenjaku, in the body of the sorcerer Noritoshi Kamo, experiments on a woman able to conceive the children of a cursed spirit: nine foetuses are born, the Death Paintings.

Kenjaku in Kaori Itadori's body
Kenjaku occupies the body of Kaori, Jin Itadori's wife, and uses it to bring Yuji into the world: a boy built to be Sukuna's perfect vessel. Grandfather Wasuke recognises the scar on her forehead and understands.

In 2006 Gojo and Geto, second-year students, are assigned to protect Riko Amanai, the vessel destined to merge with Tengen, who is hunted by a cult and by curse users.

Riko's caretaker is kidnapped and taken to Okinawa as bait. Gojo and Geto free her, then give Riko a day at the beach and the aquarium; Gojo stays awake for days with Infinity always on.

Back at the school, just inside the barrier, Gojo lowers his guard: Toji Fushiguro stabs him with the Inverted Spear of Heaven and leaves him for dead.

Riko Amanai's death
In the Tombs of the Star Geto tells Riko she can choose not to merge with Tengen. She chooses to live — and at that instant Toji shoots her in the head. Then he defeats Geto.

Gojo becomes "the strongest"
On the verge of death, Gojo masters the reverse technique: he heals, grasps Red and catches up with Toji. With Hollow Purple he kills him. From that day he is "the strongest".

Haibara's death
In 2007 a mission against a local deity, classified as a grade 2 spirit, turns out to be far more dangerous: Haibara dies, Nanami survives. Geto, already cracked, begins to collapse.

Geto defects
In a village Geto finds two little girls, Mimiko and Nanako, locked in a cage and abused by the villagers for being different. He kills the 112 villagers, then his own parents, and becomes a curse user.

Yuta enrols at the school
Yuta Okkotsu, sentenced to death by the higher-ups for being haunted by Rika's spirit, is taken by Gojo to the Tokyo school. He teams up with Maki, Toge and Panda and learns to fight.

The Night Parade of a Hundred Demons
On 24 December 2017 Geto unleashes a thousand cursed spirits on Shinjuku and Kyoto. Gojo and the sorcerers rush to stop them; in Shinjuku Miguel holds Gojo back.

Yuta vs Geto
The Parade is a diversion: Geto swoops on the school to take Rika and defeats Maki, Panda and Toge. Yuta, furious, promises Rika all of himself and releases her at full power: Geto loses an arm and flees.

Kenjaku takes Geto's body
After Geto's death, Kenjaku takes over his corpse: with it he gains Cursed Spirit Manipulation and, above all, the face that can make Gojo hesitate.

In hospital Wasuke Itadori leaves his grandson his last words: "You're strong, so help others. Die surrounded by people". Yuji carries them with him through the whole series.

Yuji swallows Sukuna's finger
At Sugisawa High his occult club mates break the seal on one of Sukuna's fingers and draw in the spirits. Megumi, sent to retrieve it, is in trouble; to save everyone Yuji swallows the finger and Sukuna awakens.

The interview with principal Yaga
At the Tokyo school principal Yaga tests Yuji by surrounding him with cursed dolls and asks him what he is willing to die for. Yuji answers with his grandfather's words and is admitted.

Nobara arrives in Tokyo
In front of Harajuku Station Yuji and Megumi meet their third classmate, Nobara Kugisaki, arrived from the countryside. Gojo immediately takes them to a test in an abandoned building in Roppongi.

The Eishu detention centre
A cursed womb appears at the Eishu detention centre and becomes a special-grade spirit. To save his friends Yuji lets Sukuna take his body; Sukuna kills the spirit, then tears out his own heart and faces Megumi: Yuji dies.

Gojo vs Jogo
Jogo attacks Gojo, who brings Yuji along to show him what a Domain Expansion is. The Unlimited Void crushes the Coffin of the Iron Mountain; Jogo survives only thanks to Hanami's intervention.

The Kawasaki cinema
Three boys are found deformed and dead in a Kawasaki cinema. Nanami and Yuji investigate: it is the work of Mahito, who has already approached Junpei Yoshino, the only other viewer.

Junpei's death
When his mother is killed by a spirit drawn by one of Sukuna's fingers left by Mahito, Junpei attacks Satozakura High. Yuji stops him and offers him his hand; Mahito transfigures him before his eyes.

The exchange event
The Kyoto students come to Tokyo for the annual challenge. Yuji, believed dead, suddenly turns up; principal Gakuganji secretly orders him killed during the team battle.

Todo asks Yuji what kind of girl he likes. The answer convinces him they are "best friends": instead of killing him he trains him in combat and makes him discover Black Flash.

Hanami's attack
A Veil falls over the forest: the spirit Hanami attacks the students while curse users keep the teachers away. Yuji and Todo drive it back with Black Flash, until Gojo breaks the Veil with Purple.

The storehouse theft
In the confusion of the attack the enemy enters the school's high-security storehouse and takes away six of Sukuna's fingers and the Death Paintings. That was the real goal of the assault.

A curse strikes those who went to the Yasohachi Bridge, in Saitama, at night. Megumi faces the spirit guarding one of Sukuna's fingers; Yuji and Nobara face Eso and Kechizu, newly incarnated, and kill them.

Mechamaru's betrayal and end
Kokichi Muta, Mahito's spy, obtains a healthy body thanks to their pact and immediately rebels: with Ultimate Mechamaru he faces Mahito and dies, leaving his comrades the warning about the Shibuya plan.

The Veil falls on Shibuya
On Halloween evening 2018 a Veil with a 400-metre radius isolates Shibuya Station: civilians can enter but not leave, and ask for one thing only — "bring Satoru Gojo here". It is Kenjaku's trap.

The sorcerers go in through the stations at the edge of the Veil. Yuji, with Mei Mei and Ui Ui, goes down into Meiji-jingumae Station and finds hordes of people transfigured by Mahito.

Gojo goes down alone to the Fukutoshin Line platform and faces Jogo, Hanami and Choso amid thousands of civilians. So as not to kill them he expands Unlimited Void for just 0.2 seconds, then cuts down the transfigured people one by one and kills Hanami.

Kenjaku opens the Prison Realm in front of Gojo, wearing Suguru Geto's face. For an instant the memories of three years with his friend cross his mind: that is the minute it takes. Gojo is sealed.

Yuji vs Choso
At the station entrance Toge clears Yuji's way through the transfigured humans. In the corridors Yuji finds Choso, who wants to avenge Eso and Kechizu: the fight ends in the restrooms, Yuji loses — and Choso, at the final blow, sees him as his brother.

Dagon's domain
Dagon hatches from its cocoon and shuts Naobito, Maki and Nanami into its domain, an endless beach. Megumi enters and opens his own incomplete domain; through the gap comes Toji, back from death, who kills Dagon.

Jogo burns the sorcerers
Just out of Dagon's domain, Nanami, Maki and Naobito are engulfed by Jogo's flames. They barely survive: Naobito will die of his wounds, Nanami keeps walking through Shibuya burned and with only one eye.

Sukuna awakens
Mimiko and Nanako, Geto's adopted daughters, make the unconscious Yuji swallow ten of Sukuna's fingers and ask him to kill whoever is wearing their father's body. Sukuna, annoyed, kills them both.

Sukuna vs Jogo
Jogo offers Sukuna the fingers in exchange for a fight: if he lands even one hit, the King of Curses will side with the spirits. At Shibuya Stream Sukuna defeats him with his own fire and tells him he was strong.

Toji vs Megumi
Toji's body, having killed old Ogami and Dagon, faces Megumi without recognising him. When he asks his name and Megumi answers 'Fushiguro', Toji understands, is glad he did not become a Zen'in, and kills himself.

Mahoraga
Stabbed by Haruta Shigemo, Megumi summons Mahoraga, the shikigami no one has ever tamed, to die taking the enemy with him. Sukuna steps in to save him — because he has plans for him — and faces Mahoraga.

The Malevolent Shrine over Shibuya
Against Mahoraga Sukuna expands the Malevolent Shrine without a barrier, over a 200-metre radius: everything is sliced, buildings and people. Then he finishes Mahoraga with his flame. Shibuya is a desert of rubble.

Nanami's death
Burned and maimed, Nanami drags himself through the station dreaming of a beach in Malaysia. Facing Mahito he sees Yuji arrive and leaves him his last words: "from here on, I'm counting on you". Mahito kills him.

Nobara vs Mahito
Nobara faces a clone of Mahito and then Mahito himself, who touches her face with Idle Transfiguration in front of Yuji. For months no one will know whether she is alive.

Yuji and Todo vs Mahito
Todo arrives and gets Yuji back on his feet. Together they fight Mahito in the void left by the Shrine: Mahito maims Todo, who loses his hand and his technique, but Yuji, now resolved to be a cog that kills curses, defeats him.

Kenjaku reveals himself
As Mahito flees from Yuji, Kenjaku absorbs him. He tells who he is — and that he was Yuji's mother. Yuki Tsukumo and Choso arrive; Kenjaku unleashes thousands of spirits across Japan and announces his game.

The higher-ups' verdict
The higher-ups declare Gojo an accomplice of Geto and banish him from the jujutsu world; they sentence principal Yaga to death for the secret of cursed corpses and name Yuta Okkotsu as Yuji's executioner.

Yuta vs Yuji
Among the ruins of Shibuya Yuta catches up with Yuji and stabs him through the heart. It is a pretence: Gojo had asked him to protect his students, and Yuta heals him at once with the reverse technique. Meanwhile Choso fends off Naoya.

In the Tokyo No. 1 colony the lawyer Higuruma shuts Yuji in his courtroom and tries him for the deaths of Shibuya. Yuji does not defend himself, he pleads guilty; Higuruma recognises his sincerity, and at the end of the fight gives him his points.

Megumi faces Reggie Star's group, which hunts newcomers in the Tokyo No. 1 colony. He defeats and kills him at the end of a gruelling fight.

Hana Kurusu and the Angel
Megumi is saved by Hana Kurusu, who shares her body with the Angel, a reincarnated sorceress whose technique erases techniques: it is the key to opening the Prison Realm. In exchange the Angel asks for Sukuna to be destroyed.

After the war the jujutsu world reorganises without Gojo. Yuji, Megumi and Nobara set off together on a mission, as they did the first time.
